A path to making a difference in our community

Recently employees of Bank of America donated over $20,000 to the National Cares Mentoring Movement, presenting the check to Founder Susan L. Taylor in New York City. These Employees of Bank of America demonstrated their commitment to making a difference for our children in need of positive role models and inspiration to rise above the hurdles that, without mentoring, can be the obstacles that relegate them to the well-known sad statistics plaguing our communities. In addition to the money raised, the BoA employees, of whom the majority is based in Maryland, have committed their time to supporting local mentoring efforts including those of Greater Baltimore Cares.

Corporations and businesses of all sizes can help mentor, as in the example of Maryland based Ross Technologies, Inc. (RTGX). The company, consisting of nearly 200 employees worldwide, was founded in 1997 and has lent its support the National Cares Mentoring Movement and The HerShe Group. Over the years the company’s founders have created opportunities for young women to participate in internships and provided the interns with cultural and educational opportunities during their internships at the company. The HerShe Group has been mentoring young women about to emancipate from Foster Care for years and has done so with much success. RTGX has supported the organization with internships for the past two years for an accomplished young woman who has graduated from the HerShe mentoring program that exposes young women to arts and culture and infuses self esteem and the motivation and information needed to plan for their futures. Many of the young women from HerShe go on to college as a result of the mentoring received as part of the HerShe program.
