Discussing Maryland and healing our children

Recently GBC’s Co-founder and Co-Chair had the pleasure of sitting down for a long planned lunch with Maryland’s vibrant and committed Lt. Governor, the Honorable Anthony Brown. Fortunately the two had the pleasure of an unusually warm, beginning of spring day for the get together. The one and only Susan L. Taylor – former Editor and Chief of that still venerable and important women’s publication, Essence Magazine – had suggested the get together to both parties during a visit to the Washington area last Fall.

The discussion covered many topics and in particular the plans for GBC and the impact the organization hopes to have on our most precious but at times neglected resource, the thousands of children from underserved communities needing our help to rise above adversity, dream and make real their greatest ambitions.

GBC looks forward to a partnership with the State and Baltimore City in support of our children in need. There is a song that has a line that says “I won’t wait no never, Till that sweet forever, no, Cause there’s a million good reasons, To praise Him every single day”.  We can’t wait forever to provide the mentoring and guidance so many of our children need. We have a million good reasons right here in our State to get up and do something about saving the most forgotten members of what could be our next greatest generation.
